Ludmila has been an artist all her life. After the fall of the Soviet Union she moved to Sweden. She and her husband operate a Scandinavian art center there with other artists. She continues to develop her abstract expressionist paintings. Characterized by unique layering, she produces highly textured and thematically compelling canvases.
Concerning the inspiration for this collection of works, Ludmila writes; "What fascinates me most in the art of icons is the deep sensitivity they radiate. The icon has a spiritual power which comes from the icon itself, a kind of light. To create and capture a light has always been the most difficult and greatest challenge to artists throughout the centuries."
